Marijuana worth £800 has been uncovered during a dawn raid at a prison in Kwa-Zulu Natal’s Empangeni city, the local SABC reported.
The Tuesday raid which was conducted at the Qalakabusha correctional centre was led by Makgothi Thobakgale, the acting National Commissioner of Correctional Services.
According to SABC, Correctional Services authorities conducted a raid at Qalakabusha in a bid to probe the cause of recent prison breaks.
Qalakabusha correctional centre authorities are still searching for four prisoners that are at large following their escape from the facility.
The raid also found over 30 mobile phones including several types of traditional medicine.
