Zambia’s football sensation, Barbra Banda, made waves over the weekend as she touched down in the United States to kick off her journey with the National Women’s Soccer League club Orlando Pride.
Banda, the esteemed captain of Zambia’s Copper Queens, was greeted with jubilation and fanfare at the Orlando airport by the Association of Zambians in Florida led by president Francis Kombe. Supporters clad in Zambian colors and the Purple Orlando Pride attire filled the airport with songs and dances, creating an electric atmosphere to welcome the star player.
Fresh from securing Zambia’s spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics by defeating Morocco, Banda radiated joy as she joined the enthusiastic crowd of supporters and the Zambian community at the airport.
The welcoming committee was spearheaded by Zambia Kuchalo, a division of Nostalgia Solutions, which rallied Zambians and fans of the Orlando Pride Soccer Team to celebrate the arrival of the former Shanghai Shengli striker.
Banda’s arrival marks a historic moment as she becomes the second Zambian female footballer to sign for a US club, following in the footsteps of compatriot Racheal Kundananji, who plays for Bay FC.
With her talent and determination, Banda is poised to make a significant impact on the Orlando Pride team and the National Women’s Soccer League as a whole.
