Zuriel Oduwole, a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, and Sterling One Foundation have called for stronger efforts in advancing gender equality and youth empowerment.

This came during a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Governor’s Office, where discussions centered on creating sustained opportunities for young leaders in Nigeria.

At 22, Oduwole is the youngest Nigerian ever nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, recognized for her global advocacy in education, gender equality, and youth inclusion.

Her efforts have influenced policy changes and sparked discussions among global decision-makers.

Sterling One Foundation has been pivotal in driving social impact through its focus on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The foundation ensures that young women and girls have the resources, platforms, and opportunities necessary to thrive.

Olapeju Ibekwe, CEO of Sterling One Foundation, emphasized their dedication to telling African stories that reflect the strength and potential of the people.

Ibekwe noted, “At Sterling One Foundation, we are intentional about telling African stories that reflect the strength and potential of our people.

This aligns with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, ‘Accelerate Action,’ and reinforces the need to break barriers for women and girls.”

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised Oduwole’s historic achievement, describing it as a significant milestone for both Nigeria and Africa.

He also reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to empowering the youth through various programs, despite the challenges of recent years.

“The THEMES Plus agenda reflects our dedication to inclusion and youth empowerment, and Lagos is proud to support Zuriel’s work,” he stated.

Oduwole also discussed the transformative power of storytelling in driving social change.

“When we share our stories, we inspire action,” she said, underscoring how storytelling can change perceptions and open doors for young people, particularly women and girls.

The visit reinforced the importance of sustained efforts to amplify diverse voices and provide young leaders with the tools they need to create meaningful change.

Sterling One Foundation continues to champion this cause through strategic initiatives aimed at driving lasting impact in gender equality and youth development.
