2Baba Breaks Silence After London No-Show, Arrest Rumours and Wife Clash Speculations
Nigerian music legend, Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, has addressed swirling rumours of his arrest in London following his sudden disappearance from the stage on Thursday night — a no-show that also sparked whispers of a clash with his wife, Natasha Osawaru.
The 50-year-old singer was billed to kick off his UK tour at 1 Mark Lane, opposite Fenchurch Street Station, but failed to appear despite fans turning out in their numbers.
By the next morning, stories flooded social media: that 2Baba had been arrested by UK police after an alleged altercation with Natasha, a lawmaker in the Edo State House of Assembly.
The gossip fed on timing. Just hours earlier, 2Baba had announced his arrival in the UK with Natasha via Instagram, stoking excitement for a tour set to take him across Birmingham, Glasgow, Bristol, Chelmsford, Bournemouth, Sheffield, and Cardiff. His absence, therefore, left a void filled with speculation.
But in a video shared Friday on Instagram, the Benue-born star broke his silence. Flanked by Natasha and close friends, he firmly denied being arrested, explaining instead that a medical emergency forced him to miss the London concert.
“First of all, I want to appreciate everybody who came out,” he said. “We had a medical emergency, and it was tough. To the organisers and everybody that came out there, we will regroup and make something very beautiful happen. And if you don’t know something, please don’t talk about it.”
2Baba, formerly known as 2Face Idibia, is one of Africa’s most celebrated music icons. Rising to fame with the hit song African Queen in the early 2000s, he has remained a towering figure in Afrobeat and pop music, earning both critical acclaim and loyal fans worldwide.
His reputation as a cultural ambassador has often placed him under intense public scrutiny, where even personal matters easily spill into headlines.
In July 2025, he tied the knot with Natasha Osawaru in Abuja, a union that attracted attention given her political profile.
The couple has since been publicly admired for their closeness, though the London incident shows how celebrity relationships can quickly become fodder for speculation.
For 2Baba, whose career has spanned over two decades, the London rumours were not just about a missed show — they tested his public image at a time when he is seeking to re-energise his global music presence with the new UK tour.
