Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate, has issued an apology following a wave of backlash over his controversial remarks comparing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to Ghana’s iconic first president, Kwame Nkrumah.

In his statement, Dr. Opoku Prempeh clarified that his comments were his personal views and not meant to disrespect Nkrumah or any former leaders. The contentious remarks, made during his unveiling in Kumasi, have sparked significant criticism and calls for his resignation from the Convention People’s Party (CPP). Amid rising tensions, Dr. Opoku Prempeh expressed sincere regret for any discomfort his words may have caused.
