Anthony Joshua has been handed a 28-day suspension from boxing following his unexpected knockout loss to Daniel Dubois. This defeat, which occurred in the fifth round, has raised questions about the future of his career as a two-time unified heavyweight champion.
According to the British Boxing Board, the suspension is a standard protective measure for fighters who suffer knockouts. Joshua and his team were aware this would be the outcome. “This rule is specially made to safeguard and protect boxers,” stated sources familiar with the process.
The suspension will last until October 19, 2024, although a return to the ring might not happen until 2025, contingent upon other key match results, including the upcoming rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.
