Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO) celebrated the 22nd World Day for Safety of activities to emphasize its commitment to employee wellbeing and workplace safety.
The theme of this year’s observance was “Revolutionizing Health and Safety: The Role of AI and Digitalization at Work.”
SEEPCO engaged its employees with a variety of activities, including health walks, lectures on AI in workplace safety, safety demonstrations, and health talks.
These efforts aimed to promote physical wellbeing and raise awareness of health challenges specific to their operational sites.
According to a statement from the company, “Safety is not just a priority; it is our value. We are embracing innovation and digitalization to revolutionize our approach to health and safety.”
The company also highlighted its ongoing efforts to integrate technology in its health and safety protocols, such as the upcoming rollout of a real-time digital incident reporting system and a streamlined e-Permit to Work system.
These innovations will improve transparency, compliance, and operational excellence. SEEPCO is also utilizing predictive monitoring and AI to prevent incidents before they occur.
In addition to these initiatives, SEEPCO reinforced its professional development efforts through specialized safety training, including certification for Radiation Safety Officers and Greenhouse Gas Management Awareness training.
The company also conducted joint emergency drills with the Lagos State Fire Service to enhance emergency preparedness.
