The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has confirmed that Governor Sim Fubara will resume office on September 18, six months after his suspension by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, APC State Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, said the party is ready to cooperate with the governor but will not shy away from criticising his administration when necessary.
“We will work with him when he returns. There are states where the governor and assembly members are from different parties, so this is not new,” Okocha stated. “That, however, does not take away our right to hold him accountable. Local government chairmen will work with him, but we will resist any policies we find harmful.”
On March 18, President Tinubu suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy, and the state assembly while imposing a state of emergency in Rivers and appointing a sole administrator to manage affairs.
