Kirinyaga Man Mourns Co-Parent Who Made Parenting Joyful, Blames Her Death on Hospital Negligence
Kirinyaga entrepreneur, Irungu Goko, is grieving the death of his co-parent and close friend, Damaris Wanjiru Chomba, in what he described as one of the saddest days of his life.
The two had shared over 12 years of co-parenting their son, Elvis, a journey he said was filled with joy and mutual respect.
In an emotional Facebook post, Irungu shared a photo of Damaris taken during his father’s burial, expressing disbelief that she was gone too soon.
According to Irungu, Damaris died after suffering a blood clot in her lungs, which later caused a cardiac arrest while waiting for treatment at the Kenyatta University Referral Hospital.
He blamed her death on alleged negligence, saying the situation could have been prevented if she had received timely medical attention.
Her passing, he said, has left a painful void in the lives of everyone who knew and loved her, especially their son.
Irungu described Damaris as “the best co-parent any man could wish for,” praising her kindness, patience, and devotion as a mother.
Despite parting ways romantically years ago, the two remained united in raising their child with love and understanding.

His tribute to her has moved many Kenyans online, with friends and family sending heartfelt condolences and praying for her soul to rest in eternal peace.
