Nigeria Troops Rescue 86 Kidnapped Victims, Arrest 29 Boko Haram Logistics Suppliers in Borno

Nigerian troops have recorded another major success in the ongoing fight against terrorism, rescuing 86 kidnapped victims and arresting 29 suspected Boko Haram logistics suppliers during coordinated military operations in Borno State.

The Nigerian Army disclosed this in a statement on Sunday through Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation Hadin Kai.

According to the statement, the operations were conducted on November 9, 2025, by troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2 of the operation.

The troops reportedly intercepted Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters at Dutse Kura, where the insurgents were attempting to abduct civilians and seize vehicles along the Buratai–Kamuya road.

Acting swiftly, the soldiers engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, thwarted the abduction, and chased the attackers toward the Mangari axis. In a follow-up encounter, the troops overpowered the insurgents near a makeshift camp, leading to the rescue of dozens of victims.

“During the clearance operation, 11 terrorists’ structures were discovered and destroyed, while 86 kidnapped victims — men, women, and children — were safely rescued,” the statement said.

Recovered items from the scene included one AK-47 rifle, five magazines loaded with 73 rounds of ammunition, four PKT ammunition belts, five civilian vehicles, five motorcycles, eight bicycles, and two logistics tricycles. The army confirmed that the terrorists’ camp was completely destroyed after the operation.

In a separate operation, troops stationed at Mangada apprehended 29 suspected logistics suppliers believed to be working for Boko Haram.

The suspects were reportedly transporting various supplies to the terrorists in Chilaria, including two pickup trucks and a tricycle loaded with about 1,000 litres of petrol, four gallons of engine oil, two new gun truck tyres, medical consumables, and large quantities of food items.

The Nigerian military leadership has since commended the troops for their professionalism and gallantry, urging them to maintain the momentum and continue denying terrorist groups freedom of action in the North-East.

The latest operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Nigerian forces to dismantle the supply networks sustaining insurgent activities in Borno and neighbouring regions, as the military intensifies its offensive against Boko Haram and ISWAP elements.
