‘Don’t Let Summer Steal Your Prayer Life,’ Pope Leo XIV Tells Christians
Pope Leo XIV has encouraged Christians not to allow the distractions of the summer season to weaken their relationship with God, urging the faithful to make time for prayer, silence and spiritual renewal.

Delivering his Angelus address on Sunday, July 12, from Castel Gandolfo, where he is spending a period of summer vacation, the pontiff reminded pilgrims and visitors that holidays should not become a break from faith but an opportunity to deepen it.
Reflecting on the day’s Gospel, Pope Leo XIV said people often fill their days with activities, travel and entertainment while leaving little room for quiet moments with God.
He urged believers to rediscover the value of silence, explaining that it creates space to listen to God’s voice amid the noise and demands of everyday life.
The Pope noted that genuine prayer does not depend on where a person is but on a willing heart that seeks God.

Whether at home, on holiday or at work, he said every Christian can set aside time each day for reflection, prayer and reading of the Scriptures.
He also encouraged families to use the holiday period to strengthen their bonds through shared moments of prayer and acts of kindness, describing such practices as a source of lasting peace and spiritual growth.

Pope Leo XIV concluded by entrusting the faithful to the care of the Blessed Virgin Mary, praying that the summer season would become a time of rest not only for the body but also for the soul, leading many to encounter God in a deeper and more meaningful way.
