Jonathan David led the charge with a hat-trick, while Cyle Larin and Nathan Saliba also scored. A Qatar own goal added to the scoreline in a game that turned ugly, with the Asian side finishing with nine men.
Homam El Amin was sent off in the first half for a professional foul, while Assim Omer Madibo also saw red after a VAR review for a dangerous tackle that injured Ismael Kone.
Switzerland also enjoyed a strong outing, beating Bosnia & Herzegovina 4–1 in a match that came alive late on.
Substitute Johan Manzambi made history with a brace, scoring twice in the closing stages as all five goals in the game came within the final 20 minutes.
