Denrele Edun Breaks Silence on the Voice Note Alexx Ekubo Sent Before His Passing
Media personality Denrele Edun has opened up about an emotional voice note he received from late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, describing it as a message that now carries a deeper emotional weight following the actor’s death.

Denrele said the audio was sent while Alexx was quietly battling illness, though his tone remained calm, affectionate, and focused on checking in rather than speaking about his own condition.
The message, which has since been shared on Denrele’s Instagram page, has drawn widespread emotional reactions online.
In the viral audio clip, Alexx’s voice reflected warmth and concern as he reached out to his friend.
He spoke in a familiar and personal tone, offering reassurance, prayers, and kind words, while expressing appreciation for Denrele’s energy and kindness.
In the viral audio clip, shared on Denrele’s Instagram page, Alexx’s voice carried warmth and concern despite his own health struggles. He said:
“Rele, how are you? Good evening, hope well. I just saw something Tunde posted like 20 minutes ago about you. I know you hate sympathy so I’m just happy you’re okay now. I’m glad I reached out to be sure you’re fine but I know you are as always and your healing is permanent and God will continue to keep and bless and protect you. “You bring so much light, you’re such an energy giver, you’re an amazing individual, purest of them all, kindness of heart and you spread yourself in for everyone. Please, if there’s anywhere I can be there for you, don’t hesitate to let me know, okay? I love you my brother and I appreciate you deeply, deeply loved. God bless you.”
Denrele, deeply emotional, explained:
“This is the last Voice-Note ALEXX sent me (from his sick bed). And that’s the part I’m struggling with. Because while he was carrying battles I knew nothing about, he still found the strength to reach out and comfort me. That’s who ALEXX was.”
Denrele said the voice note stood out because of the depth of their bond, which dates back several years and includes shared personal moments and industry encounters.
He noted that hearing it now feels different, given the context of what Alexx may have been facing privately at the time.
He also recalled their time working together on a film set in Port Harcourt, describing Alexx as someone who remained lighthearted and encouraging even when he was not at his best, often lifting the mood of those around him.

The media personality explained that he initially kept the voice note private after news of Alexx’s passing, finding it difficult to share such a personal memory.
However, he eventually released it as a tribute to the actor’s character and the kindness he consistently showed others.
Alexx Ekubo was laid to rest in his hometown in Abia State, with family, friends, and colleagues from the entertainment industry in attendance.
Since then, the voice note has continued to resonate with fans, serving as a reminder of the quiet strength and compassion the actor carried even during difficult moments.
