VIDEO: Hanks Anuku Breaks Silence After Viral Deliverance Video: ‘I Have Been Through a Lot’
Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has finally spoken about the personal struggle that left him emotionally weighed down and contributed to his withdrawal from the people around him.
The actor’s comments came days after a video of him undergoing deliverance at a church in Abuja went viral, drawing renewed attention to his wellbeing.
Before the church session, Anuku had been seen in videos appearing distressed, leading to widespread concern and speculation about what he was going through.
But speaking in a video shared on social media after the prayers, the actor suggested that his recent struggles were connected to painful experiences he had been carrying for a long time.
“A lot of you know me, and I guess you have seen a lot online about me. I have been through a lot of traumatic situations,” Anuku said.
He disclosed that the pain had caused him to withdraw from people and isolate himself, making it difficult for him to move on with his life.
The actor said he felt heavily burdened before the deliverance, describing the experience as one that left him emotionally drained and uncomfortable.
“Before the deliverance, I felt weighed down, very heavy and uncomfortable,” he said.
Anuku later revealed that the death of his partner, whom he had hoped to marry and who was the mother of his children, had left him deeply traumatised.
“I wanted to marry her, but she went to the great beyond too soon. She was the mother of my daughter and son. I remember when I first met her. We were always together,” he said.
According to the actor, the loss affected him profoundly and became one of the painful experiences he struggled to overcome.
He said he now feels lighter after the prayers and believes he has rediscovered a sense of joy.
“But now I feel as light as a feather and like a newborn baby after the prayers. I feel so much joy now. There’s laughter and dancing in me again,” he said.
Anuku added that he wanted to become a different person but felt he had been led astray before eventually finding his way to what he described as God’s presence for “deliverance, healing, and divine comfort.”
The actor had previously attributed his drinking habit to depression in 2023.
His latest disclosure has provided a deeper glimpse into the personal pain behind the public concern that followed the viral videos of him appearing distressed.
