WAFCON 2026: Group D Headliners Clash as Ghana Face Cameroon and Mali Meet Cape Verde

The race for the knockout stages takes center stage tonight in Casablanca as Group D returns for a highly anticipated matchday two block.

Heavyweight giants Ghana and Cameroon will collide in a high-stakes battle for automatic qualification at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium.

Meanwhile, Mali and tournament debutants Cape Verde are set to square off in a must-win encounter at the Moulay Rachid Stadium to keep their quarter-final dreams alive.

The headline fixture features Kim Björkegren’s Black Queens looking to build on their clinical opening-day 2-0 victory over Cape Verde.

They face a formidable challenge in the physical Indomitable Lionesses, who are fresh off a hard-fought 2-1 win against Mali courtesy of a Marie Gisèle Ngah Manga brace.

The winner of this blockbuster match will standalone at the top of the group and mathematically secure a definitive place in the WAFCON quarter-finals.

In the concurrent fixture, both Mali and Cape Verde face immense pressure to secure maximum points after suffering opening round defeats.

The West African side will lean heavily on striker Aïssata Traoré to spark their frontline, while Cape Verde must regroup defensively after a costly red card to substitute Kleydiana Borges.

With so much on the line, the current Group D standings could completely reshape themselves by the final whistle.
