Osun Governorship Race: Davido Tells Tinubu He’ll Turn to Trump If Election Goes Wrong
Award-winning Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has warned that he will not remain silent if the forthcoming Osun State governorship election is compromised.
He said he is prepared to draw the attention of United States President Donald Trump to any alleged irregularities.
The music star made the remark during a live chat with comedian Carter Efe as discussions centred on the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
Davido said the credibility of the election should not be taken for granted, urging those responsible for conducting the exercise to ensure that the will of the people is respected.
“I will involve Trump if anything goes wrong in the Osun election,” he said.
The singer’s statement comes as political campaigns gather momentum across the state ahead of the crucial poll.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle, is seeking a second term in office, and the entertainer has remained one of the most visible public figures supporting his campaign.
Over the past few weeks, Davido has repeatedly appealed for a peaceful and transparent election, insisting that every eligible voter should be allowed to cast a ballot freely and that the outcome should reflect the wishes of the electorate.
