Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has been criticized by Kenyans for a social media post perceived as insensitive amidst their tax protests.
Following demonstrations against a now-withdrawn finance bill proposing new taxes, Etiko’s Instagram post, praising Nigerians’ resilience, was seen as a slight against Kenyans. Numerous Kenyan commenters rebuked her, prompting Etiko to clarify that she was unaware of the protests and did not intend to mock Kenyans.
