Sean “Diddy” Combs, the well-known music mogul currently serving time, is reportedly seeking a pardon from former President Donald Trump, according to one of his attorneys.
Diddy, who is set to be sentenced in October after being convicted on prostitution-related charges, has been in talks with Trump’s team about the possibility of receiving clemency.
In an interview with CNN, Diddy’s lawyer, Nicole Westmoreland, confirmed, “We’ve reached out and had discussions regarding a potential pardon.”
However, Trump has shown hesitation in granting the request. Speaking with Newsmax, the former president shared, “I had a good relationship with him, but I didn’t know him too well. When I ran for office, he was quite hostile toward me.”
When asked if he would consider pardoning Diddy, Trump responded, “I would say so, yeah.”
Diddy was convicted of two charges related to transportation for prostitution, each carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years. He was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges. His sentencing date is scheduled for October 3.
