Emeka Ike Drags INEC, Wike’s Aide to Court Over Alleged Voter Data Leak
Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over alleged unauthorized exposure of his voter registration details.
He also joined Lere Olayinka, media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, in the case over the same allegation.

The case stems from a social media post in which Ike’s voter information was reportedly shared on X, showing his transfer from Imo State to the Federal Capital Territory.
The actor says the publication was done without his consent and amounts to a breach of his privacy rights.
The post, allegedly shared by Olayinka, sparked controversy online and raised questions about how the data was accessed from INEC’s voter registration system.
Many users accused the source of obtaining information from a restricted electoral database.
INEC has denied claims of a cyberattack on its systems, explaining that the incident was caused by internal misuse of authorized login credentials rather than any external hacking.

The commission says investigations are ongoing to determine how the data was accessed and circulated.
The actor argues that the disclosure violated constitutional provisions on privacy and protections under Nigeria’s data protection laws. He is also asking the court to hold INEC responsible for failing to secure sensitive voter information in its custody.
In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1272/2026, Ike is demanding ₦10 billion in damages, alongside an order compelling the removal of the post and a public apology published across social media and national newspapers.

The matter adds to growing public concern over how electoral bodies manage personal data and the safeguards in place to prevent unauthorized disclosure.
