Federal Government Unveils 65th Independence Anniversary Theme
The Federal Government has formally released the theme for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, scheduled for October 1, 2025.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the theme was announced as “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
The government explained that the choice of theme reflects the need for unity and cooperation across all segments of society — government, private sector, civil society, and the general public — in pursuit of national stability, prosperity, and progress.
Officials noted that since independence in 1960, Nigeria has experienced both challenges and achievements, making it necessary to consolidate past successes and strive towards stronger national growth under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Government ministries, agencies, and development partners have been directed to align their activities with the anniversary theme so that the message resonates across the country.
As part of the official programme for the celebrations, a Juma’at prayer will be held on Friday, September 26, followed by an inter-denominational church service on Sunday, September 28. The events will conclude with a World Press Conference scheduled for Monday, September 29, in Abuja.
