A private jet terminal at the Kotoka International Airport has been shut down by the Management of Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL).

The private jet terminal which is the country’s first private jet terminal charter service was shutdown four days after it was launched at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra on Friday, 28th January 2022.

According to the Management of GACL, the private belonging to McDan Aviation Company shut down after the company refused to halt the inauguration of the terminal as directed by the Managing Director for Ghana Airport Company, Yaw Kwakwa over security and safety breaches.

Reports gathered by AfricaWorld Reports confirms that, on the night of January 31, 2022, armed security personnel were deployed to the terminal to shut it down.

However, in a letter issued to the Managing Director of GACL, the Union leaders expressed support to management as it seeks to ensure adherence to protocols while demanding outstanding financial obligations yet to be met by McDan over the acquisition of the terminal are done immediately.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Union Chairman of GACL, Mr. Abdul Issaka Bamba has warned that, union members will not be deployed to the terminal if the concerns are not addressed.
