Dai Qisheng, a high-profile fugitive and notorious gang leader wanted in Guizhou Province, China, has been successfully repatriated to the People’s Republic of China following a coordinated international operation.
The Nigeria Police Force, through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, carried out the operation in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria. In a statement released Sunday, Force Public Relations Officer DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed that the operation underscores the NPF’s unwavering commitment to combating transnational organized crime.
Qisheng fled China in 2024 after the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County issued a warrant for his arrest over his role in leading violent organized criminal activities. Seeking to evade justice, he took refuge in Nigeria, where he was eventually tracked, surveilled, and apprehended by INTERPOL operatives in Abuja on August 8, 2025.
He was repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under INTERPOL’s police-to-police cooperation framework.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, emphasized that this operation sends a clear message: Nigeria will not serve as a safe haven for international fugitives. He reaffirmed the NPF’s dedication to strengthening global law enforcement partnerships through intelligence sharing and operational collaboration, ensuring that borders never obstruct justice.
