Press Statement
Lagos Youth House,
Tuesday 12th August 2025
As the world marks International Youth Day, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter, extends warm salutations to the vibrant, industrious, and ever-resourceful youths across Lagos State.
Today, we celebrate not only our resilience and unbroken spirit but also the ingenuity, innovation, and leadership we bring to our respective communities and the state at large.
In every sphere, from entrepreneurship to technology, from the arts to civic leadership, we have proven ourselves as catalysts of change, driven by passion and undeterred by challenges. Our creativity continues to position our state as a ‘Centre of excellence’ and opportunity.
As the umbrella body for youths, NYCN Lagos remains steadfast in its commitment to creating an enabling environment that fosters skills development, expands economic opportunities, strengthens partnerships, and empowers young people to reach their fullest potential.
In the past 13 months, we have made remarkable strides aimed at redefining youth activism and making life more meaningful for the teeming youths of our state.
These include impactful human-capital development programmes, leadership summits, youth and governance symposiums, the World Braille Competition, and the establishment of the Lagos Youth Development Institute (LYDI); our dedicated leadership incubator, among others.
We firmly believe that by equipping young individuals with the right tools and platforms, our boundless energy will translate into sustainable growth for both our state and nation.
On this special occasion, I commend every young Lagosian for our contributions, sacrifices, and vision. May our dreams remain bold, our determination unshaken, and our influence ever-growing in shaping a better tomorrow.
We also recognise the invaluable support of the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, as well as partnerships with private Sector players, MDAs, Non-Governmental Organisations, and well-meaning individuals in the actualisation of our programmes. We call for even more collaboration, particularly in ensuring greater youth inclusion in governance and in shaping key developmental strategies that will continuously foster actions for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Beyond.
Happy International Youth Day!
