Lebanon’s Tyre Under Evacuation Order as Israel Expands Strikes Amid Regional Tensions

Residents of the southern Lebanese city of Tyre have been told to leave immediately after the Israeli military issued a sweeping evacuation order ahead of planned airstrikes in the area.

The warning, delivered by the Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, instructed civilians in Tyre and nearby neighbourhoods, including camps and residential zones, to move north of the Zahrani River.

The military said the operation is linked to ongoing cross-border attacks it attributes to Hezbollah, which it accuses of violating ceasefire understandings and targeting northern Israel.

The order has intensified an already fragile humanitarian situation in southern Lebanon, where repeated strikes and evacuation directives have forced large-scale displacement.

Many families, often given little time to respond, are once again abandoning homes with limited access to transport, shelter, and basic supplies.

Israel says its military campaign is aimed at weakening Hezbollah’s operational capacity and securing its northern frontier.

Lebanese authorities and humanitarian organisations, however, have raised concerns over the impact on civilians and the growing strain on already overstretched communities.

The escalation comes as broader regional diplomacy remains under pressure, with Iran-backed Hezbollah remaining central to tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border.

Efforts to stabilise the situation have been complicated by competing political and security interests across the region.

Analysts say the renewed violence underscores how quickly localized border clashes are feeding into wider geopolitical friction, with civilians in southern Lebanon bearing the immediate consequences as military operations expand.
