The Court of Appeal has removed Chijioke Okereke from the Labour Party as the representative for Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency while affirming Anayo Onwuegbu’s victory. This decision came after Okereke’s appeal against his initial removal by the Enugu State National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal was dismissed. The Court ruled that the appeal lacked merit and affirmed Anayo Onwuegbu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the rightful winner of the election. Onwuegbu had challenged Okereke’s victory, claiming he was not a valid candidate for the election due to his absence from the result sheet.
