The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Roni Local Government Area, Saleh Idris, aged 56, has been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on charges of allegedly raping his housegirl. The NSCDC’s Jigawa State Command Spokesman, CSC Adamu Shehu, confirmed the arrest in a statement. The arrest occurred after the victim’s brother filed a complaint, accusing Idris of raping and impregnating his 14-year-old sister, who worked as a house-help in Idris’s home.According to the victim’s brother, the case was initially reported to NSCDC Roni LGA Division after an unsuccessful attempt to resolve it at the Hisba office, where Idris had pressured the family to terminate the pregnancy. The victim’s first encounter with Idris involved him offering her a drink when his wife wasn’t at home, causing her to lose consciousness, after which he sexually assaulted her. Idris then threatened her into silence, warning her of losing her monthly allowances if she spoke out, leading to a continued pattern of abuse until the pregnancy became evident.CSC Adamu mentioned that Idris denied the allegations, and the case has been taken to court, with charges based on the Violance Against Persons (Prohibition) Act of Jigawa State, carrying appropriate penalties under the same Act. #OMAGIST@AFRICAWORLDNEWS*
