President Joe Biden has approved an additional $27 million in humanitarian aid for Nigeria as part of the United States’ ongoing efforts to support Sub-Saharan Africa.
The U.S. Mission Nigeria announced this via its official X handle on Wednesday, highlighting the nation’s commitment to “providing lifesaving assistance and protection to vulnerable people and generous host communities throughout the continent.”
This aid is a portion of the $536 million recently unveiled by U.S. Under Secretary of State Uzra Zeya during her visit to Ethiopia. Zeya stated, “Today, I’m proud to announce nearly $536 million in new humanitarian assistance from the United States.” She further emphasized that the funds are designed to “create durable solutions to ease the suffering, build resilience, and resolve the plight of displaced and other vulnerable persons.”
