NIGERIA: Ribadu Unveils lnvestigations into Assault on NLC Leader, Joe Ajaero, Amidst Nationwide Outcry

The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has announced an investigation into the assault on NLC President Joe Ajaero. Several suspects linked to the incident in Owerri have been apprehended. A nationwide strike was launched by the Labour Union in response to the assault. The Inspector General of Police redeployed the Commissioner of Police in Imo State and ordered an investigation. The President of the Trade Union Congress called for the NSA to lead the investigation, expressing a lack of confidence in the IGP’s probe. Ribadu, in a statement, condemned the assault, directed thorough investigation, and appealed to end the strike for dialogue.
