Nigerian Politicians Allegedly Own Multi-Billion Naira Properties in Dubai

According to an investigation by BUSINESS DAY, politically exposed persons (PEPs) in Nigeria have doubled their investments in the real estate sector of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, within the past four years.

The investigation is part of ‘Dubai Unlocked,’ a six-month probe of UAE’s booming and secretive property market led by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) together with more than 70 media partners.

Politicians and Their Alleged Properties:
Atiku Abubakar – Three-bedroom flat at Palm Tower, Dubai ($1.23 million).
Atiku’s 23-Year-Old Daughter – One-bedroom flat at Trade Centre Second ($104,135) and two-bedroom flat at Hadaeq Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid ($289,305.75).
Lateef Fagbemi – Property at Al Hebiah Third ($85,846).
Nasir El-Rufai – Four-bedroom flat at Al Hebiah Third ($193,084).
Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed – Eight properties ($2.28 million total) in Burj Khalifa, Al Yelayiss, Al Barsha South Fourth, and Town Square Safi
Ifeanyi Uba – Property ($1.13 million) and eight properties linked to his wife (values unspecified).
Attahiru Bafarawa – Seven properties ($1.48 million) and a Palm Jumeirah property linked to his wife ($750,112).
Ahmed Markafi – Property at Burj Khalifa ($822,016).
Tafa Balogun – Five properties, including Marsa Dubai (over $1 million total).
Mbu Joseph – Property linked to the former Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
Ahmadu Ali – Property linked to the former PDP chairman and another to his daughter Khadijah Nneamaka Ali ($422,887).
Maina Aji Lawan – Eleven properties linked to the former Borno State governor and senator.
Ashe Ahmadu Muazu – Property ($1.16 million) linked to the wife of a former PDP chairman.
Christabel Bentu – Property linked to the former special assistant to a Plateau State governor.
Isa Mahmoud Nuhu – Two properties linked to the Nigeria Customs Service senior official ($553,802).
Salisu Abdullahi Yushau – Two properties linked to the former Nigerian Air Force officer.
Mohammed Sidi Sani – Flat at Marsa Dubai ($590,807).
Hadiza Ali Sheriff – Marsa Dubai property ($3.093 million) linked to the wife of a former Borno State governor.
Nenadi Usman – Property linked to Nigeria’s former finance minister.
Bobboi Kaigama – Property linked to the former TUC president.
Jimoh Ibrahim – Seven properties linked to the senator representing Ondo South.
Ike Ekweremadu – Five properties linked to the former deputy Senate president.
Orji Uzor Kalu – Property linked to the former Abia State governor.
Jeremiah Useni – Property linked to the former military governor of old Bendel State.
Osita Chidoka – Real estate at Jabal Ali First ($101,793.37).
Olisa Metuh – Property linked to the former PDP spokesman.
Abdulsalami Abubakar – Property at Marsa Dubai linked to Nigeria’s former head of state.
Hassan Ardo Tukur – Property ($1.025 million) linked to a former principal secretary to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
Adeyemi Ikuforiji – Property at Marsa Dubai linked to the former speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Dan Etete – Property linked to Nigeria’s former petroleum minister.

The newspaper clarified that this report does not indict the individuals listed, as there is no evidence that the properties were acquired with stolen or public funds.
