
left side;general Manager Eng Badru Wandwasi,Principal Engineer Norbert, Lady the plant quality controller Buikwe District, Uganda – August 1, 2025 -In a bid to improve water service and supply reliability in the affected areas of (Nyenga, Kafuta, Bulyankuyege, Butema, and Bugungu) .The Jinja Area management team of Uganda’s National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) conducted a strategic visit to the Kiyindi Water Plant, located in Kiyindi Town Council, Buikwe District, under the Lugazi Area Management, after the authorization by the Area manager Lydia kabasomi .
Led by General Manager Eng. Badru Wadwasi and Principal Engineer Gutti Nobert, the team aimed to assess the plant’s infrastructure, understand its operational capacity, and explore options for improving water supply to neighboring communities within the Jinja service area currently facing water stress.

The Kiyindi Water Plant has a production capacity of 4,000 cubic meters per day. Jinja Area is seeking to close a 1,000 m³/day supply gap in areas including Nyenga, Kafuta, Bulyankuyege, Butema, and Bugungu locations that, while within the Jinja NWSC jurisdiction, are geographically closer to the Kiyindi system.

The Jinja team was received by the Plant Quality Control Officer Anita, who guided them through a comprehensive tour of the plant facilities and the Lukalu reservoir.
Speaking during the visit, Eng. Wadwasi underscored the strategic role of the Kiyindi plant in addressing water scarcity challenges,improving service , supply reliability and reaffirmed NWSC Jinja Area’s commitment to collaboration. “The potential for supporting these communities through the Kiyindi system is significant, and we are working closely with the Lugazi Area management to take practical steps towards extending service coverage,” he stated.
This initiative highlights NWSC’s broader efforts to enhance access to clean and reliable water supply across Uganda, especially in regions where infrastructure gaps persist. Continued inter-regional cooperation is key to ensuring inclusive and sustainable water service delivery.
