Psquare: Peter Okoye Breaks Twin Bond, Dumps Shared Birthday Date
Nigerian music star Peter Okoye has announced a striking personal decision, revealing that he will no longer celebrate his birthday on November 18 — the date he shares with his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
In a post shared via his X account on Monday, the singer made it clear that the long-recognised date is now off the table.
He stated that he will neither acknowledge messages nor accept gifts on November 18, adding that his birthday will now be marked on November 30.
According to him, the change is personal, and he appealed for understanding from fans and well-wishers.
While the announcement may seem simple, it comes with deeper undertones tied to a long-running family dispute.
Both brothers rose to fame as part of the iconic duo P-Square, dominating the African music scene for years before internal conflicts tore the group apart. Their fallout was linked to disagreements over finances, control, and management.
Their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, has remained a central figure in the crisis.
The situation worsened with public accusations ranging from financial misconduct to claims of betrayal, including allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Although a reunion in 2021 briefly reunited the brothers and reignited hope among fans, the peace did not last.
By 2025, tensions had escalated again, with Peter openly declaring that he had cut ties with his brothers.
His decision to abandon a shared birthday now appears to mirror that separation — a symbolic step that underscores just how far apart the once inseparable twins have grown.
