Sowore Alleges Nnamdi Kanu Has Been Secretly Transferred to Sokoto Prison

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has alleged that the Nigerian government has secretly moved Nnamdi Kanu from Abuja to a prison facility in Sokoto.

According to Sowore, the transfer was carried out quietly, and he warns that Kanu’s safety may now be at greater risk due to the location and conditions of the facility.

He claimed that authorities refused to keep Kanu in Kuje Prison because they believed his supporters would turn the place into a “pilgrimage site,” boosting his influence.

Sowore further argued that the government is deliberately creating an illusion of “renewed hope” around Kanu’s case to calm the public while allegedly pursuing a plan that keeps him isolated and far from his support base.

He insists that officials have no intention of releasing him, not even for political advantage, and that the strategy is to keep him detained until his health deteriorates.

He also accused some politicians from Kanu’s own region of working against him, claiming they fear his strong connection with the people.

Sowore said these political actors did everything possible to frustrate the #FreeNnamdiKanuNOW protests and warned Nigerians not to be deceived by government messaging. His message ends with a caution: “Do not say I didn’t warn you.”
