American author, John Jay Chapman says “one of the deepest impulses in man is the impulse to record, to scratch a drawing on a tusk or keep a diary… The enduring value of the past is, one might say, the very basis of civilisation.”

Looking at that quote, you will understand that humans have an inherent desire to document and preserve their experiences, thoughts, and stories. This impulse to record history is a fundamental aspect of human nature.
