Statement by the Federal Government of Somalia

Mogadishu | 18 May 2026

The Federal Republic of Somalia strongly condemns the attempted drone attack targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which was intercepted and destroyed after entering Saudi airspace.

Somalia describes this act as a serious violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a threat to regional peace and stability.

Somalia reaffirms its full solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and expresses its support for all measures aimed at safeguarding its security, stability, and territorial integrity.

The Federal Republic of Somalia stresses that attacks targeting the security of states and critical infrastructure undermine collective regional stability and risk further escalation in an already fragile region.

Somalia calls for restraint, respect for international law, and renewed efforts to preserve security and stability across the region.
