Stop Panicking, Your Interview Will Air Unedited — Piers Morgan to Nigeria’s Foreign Minister
British broadcaster Piers Morgan has assured Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, that his interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored will be aired without edits, following concerns raised by the minister about possible misrepresentation.
Tuggar had earlier posted on X requesting that the full version of the interview be broadcast, warning that selective clipping could distort his comments on allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria.
He cautioned that such edits might fuel “misleading narratives and allegations of religious persecution in Nigeria,” insisting that “Nigeria’s truth must not be distorted to fit external biases.”
Responding directly on X, Morgan wrote: “You seem to be panicking, Foreign Minister. Rest assured, we will air your comments in full. The show is called Uncensored for a reason. Whether people believe what you said remains to be seen.”
As of the time of filing this report, the full interview had not been released on the programme’s official platforms.
The exchange comes amid heightened international scrutiny over reports and allegations of widespread attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria, claims the Nigerian government has repeatedly dismissed as exaggerated or politically motivated.
Recent comments by foreign lawmakers and advocacy groups have renewed global debate, prompting Nigeria’s foreign ministry to intensify diplomatic engagement to counter what it describes as “misleading genocide narratives.”
Tuggar’s interview with Piers Morgan was expected to address these controversies directly, making concerns about selective editing particularly sensitive for Nigerian officials.
