Those Figures Were Written, Not Earned — Atiku Rejects Tinubu’s 10 Million Vote Claim
Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu secured over 10 million votes in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary, describing the figure as fabricated and not reflective of any real voting process.
Official results from the ruling party had placed Tinubu at 10,999,160 votes in the contest held over the weekend.
But speaking with journalists in Yola, Adamawa State, after participating in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary, Atiku insisted the numbers were “written and not earned,” urging Nigerians to disregard the outcome.
He called on voters to prepare for the 2027 general elections, saying the current administration should be voted out over what he described as poor governance and worsening economic hardship.
Atiku also accused the government of insensitivity to citizens’ struggles, arguing that the country had been mismanaged.
Commenting on the ADC primary, he described the turnout as encouraging, particularly the participation of young people, saying it reflected growing hope in the party’s direction.
“We are confident. There is no challenge that can stop us from achieving what we set out to do,” he said, expressing optimism about the party’s chances in the next general election.
He further urged Nigerians to support the ADC, adding that any alternative, in his view, would only deepen the country’s difficulties.
