Touadéra sworn in for third term in Central African Republic

President Faustin-Archange Touadéra has been sworn in for a third term following his victory in the December 2025 general election.

The inauguration took place in Bangui, where several African leaders were in attendance, including Brice Oligui Nguema, Évariste Ndayishimiye—who also chairs the African Union—and Azali Assoumani.

Touadéra secured re-election with 77.9 percent of the vote, according to official results validated by the Constitutional Council.

First elected in 2016, he won a second term in 2020 before a 2023 constitutional referendum removed term limits and extended the presidential tenure to seven years, enabling his latest bid.

He now begins another term leading the Central African Republic, amid ongoing expectations around stability and governance.
