Türkiye has expressed deep sorrow following a deadly fuel tanker explosion in Nigeria, which claimed 86 lives. The incident, which occurred at Dikko Junction in Niger State on January 20, resulted in a devastating fire after the tanker crashed and exploded as residents attempted to collect leaking fuel. The explosion also injured 55 others, who are currently receiving medical treatment.
Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry extended condolences, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives…,” and offered well wishes for the swift recovery of the injured. The victims, many of whom were buried in a mass grave, were mostly local residents and rescuers caught in the blast.
Abdullahi Baba-Arah, director of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed that 80 bodies were interred at a local healthcare center, while five victims were claimed by their families.
