Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has issued a stern warning to PDP governors who back Governor Siminalayi Fubara, threatening to “put fire in their states.”
During the Rivers State PDP Congress in Port Harcourt, Wike declared, “Not while we live will anybody take the PDP structure from us”. I hear that some governors claim they will take the structure and give it to somebody. I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states.”
Wike’s relationship with Fubara, his successor, has been tense since Fubara became governor in 2023. The ongoing conflict has divided the Rivers State legislative arm into factions. Despite party members’ efforts to mediate, the rift remains unresolved, with PDP governors consistently supporting Fubara, further aggravating Wike.
