The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has unveiled a bold ₦943,020,600 budget for 2026, doubling down on its mission to translate the Scriptures into local languages and implement impactful programmes that bring the Word of God closer to the people.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Benjamin Mordi, Manager, Media and Public Relations, BSN, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.

Mordi said the new budget reflects a 97 per cent increase from the ₦479,722,500 expended in 2024, signalling BSN’s growing commitment to Bible accessibility and spiritual transformation nationwide.

He said that out of the total budget, ₦288.3 million is earmarked for 10 ongoing Bible translation projects, including the Nigerian Sign Language Bible, a major initiative to serve the deaf community.

According to him, the project is expected to cost ₦62 million, reflecting its complexity and the organisation’s inclusive approach to scripture engagement.

Pastor Samuel Sanusi, General Secretary and CEO of BSN said:

“It costs a minimum of ₦150 million to complete any Bible translation project within an eight-year period,” explained.

“Yet we remain undeterred by the economic climate—our mandate to share God’s Word in every language remains our top priority.

“Our resilience, accountability, and sense of responsibility to the body of Christ drive us.

“As government does its part, we must do ours—in line with the Great Commission.”

Mordi said that ₦306.4 million is allocated to ‘The Macedonian Call’, a BSN intervention initiative that combines Bible distribution with humanitarian relief.

He explained that the Macedonian Call programme delivers scriptures along with food, clothing, bedding, and back-to-school kits to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and underserved communities across Nigeria.

He added that in the first quarter of 2025 alone, BSN has spent over ₦148 million towards fulfilling its mission of scriptural access and engagement.

The BSN is a non-profit and non-denominational Christian organisation, dedicated to making the Bible available, affordable, and understandable to Nigerians in their preferred languages and formats.

The BSN does this while offering life-transforming programmes that deepen faith and discipleship.
