Omokri Accuses Nnamdi Kanu of Ordering Killings of Soldiers, Policemen, and Attacks in Nigeria, Including Burning of Lagos

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide and outspoken social media commentator, has accused Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), of orchestrating the deaths of over 50 soldiers, 24 policemen, and countless civilians across Nigeria’s Southeast. He also alleged that Kanu ordered the burning of Lagos State.

Omokri made the claims during an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday, where he responded to remarks made by Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State. Obi had questioned the legitimacy of Kanu’s ongoing trial, suggesting that it lacked justification.

According to Omokri, he has video evidence that shows Kanu instructing his supporters to carry out these violent acts, including targeting military personnel and initiating attacks on civilian structures, particularly in Lagos.

In his rebuttal to Obi, Omokri argued that the former governor’s position failed to address the scale of violence in the Southeast, much of which he attributed to IPOB, unknown gunmen, and the Eastern Security Network (ESN). Omokri also questioned why Obi had not openly condemned these groups’ violent activities.

“I have a video, which we can’t show here due to BBC restrictions, where Kanu is heard urging his followers to kill soldiers and burn Lagos,” Omokri said. “After that, over 50 soldiers were killed in the Southeast, including an army couple who were brutally murdered and beheaded in Imo State.”

Omokri further elaborated on the violent aftermath, revealing that more than 160 police stations were attacked in the region, and 24 policemen were killed by IPOB members, unknown gunmen, and ESN operatives.

He wrapped up by questioning Obi’s stance on Kanu’s trial, stating, “How can you say that the trial of someone who orchestrated these deaths does not make sense?”
