A photographer that was arrested and jailed by a military tribunal 3 years ago in eastern Libya, has been freed from strongman Khalifa Haftar’s loyalist forces.
A source said under anonymity conditions that Ismail Abuzreiba al-Zway has been released under an amnesty on September 12.
“Ismail Abuzreiba al-Zway, sentenced to 15 years in prison, was released after benefiting from a special amnesty from the general command of the armed forces” a source in the military prosecutor’s office said.
According to AFP’s story, Zway was freed late Saturday as revealed by a source on condition of anonymity.
In a tweet showing photos of Zway’s release, Hanan Salah, a researcher on Libya for Human Rights Watch, said it was “overdue” and came “after 3yrs of arbitrary detention.”
