Malawi Police impounded 240 bags of Indian Hemp which were packed in a fuel tanker belonging to Pezani Transport on Tuesday, in the capital, Lilongwe.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Lilongwe Police Publicist, Hastings Chigalu, said the hemp bags were impounded in Lilongwe, at around 2 am following a tip-off.

The fuel tanker truck of registration number NA 9403, was being driven by Kaulanda Mabvuto Harawa, why remained at large during broadcast time.

The driver was identified using the driver’s licence and passport he left in the truck.

Police authorities sent the impounded illicit drug to Chitedze Research Station for verification.
