World Cup 2026: Canada’s World Cup Ends in Morocco Defeat
Canada’s hopes of extending its historic World Cup run came to an end on Saturday after a 3-0 loss to Morocco in the Round of 16.

The co-hosts enjoyed an impressive opening half and looked capable of causing an upset, but they were unable to turn their chances into goals.
Morocco made Canada pay early in the second half when Azzedine Ounahi found the net with a powerful long-range effort after receiving a well-delivered free-kick from Achraf Hakimi.

The North Africans grew in confidence after taking the lead and controlled the remainder of the contest, adding further goals to secure a comfortable victory and a place in the quarter-finals.
Although Canada’s campaign ended in disappointment, Jesse Marsch’s men can reflect on a tournament that featured memorable moments, including a resounding win over Qatar and a Round of 32 triumph against South Africa. They finish the competition with two victories, one draw and two defeats.

The result also sees Canada become the first of the tournament’s three host nations to bow out, while Morocco continues its impressive World Cup journey with another statement victory.
