Cash Reportedly Stolen From Super Falcons Players’ Hotel Rooms in Casablanca
The Super Falcons’ preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations have been overshadowed by reports that cash belonging to some players disappeared from their hotel rooms in Morocco.
The players are reportedly staying at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca, where they are completing their final preparations for the continental competition.
According to reports, some members of the squad discovered that money had allegedly been removed from their wallets while they were away from their rooms.
Esther Okoronkwo was reportedly the most affected, with $700 said to be missing.
Rasheedat Ajibade allegedly lost $200, while Osinachi Ohale, Joy Omewa and Halimatu Ayinde were reportedly missing $100, $120 and $100 respectively. The total amount involved is said to be $1,220.
It remains unclear how the money disappeared or who may have been responsible.
The Nigeria Football Federation has not confirmed the reports and has yet to announce whether an investigation has been opened.
The Super Falcons are in Morocco as they prepare to defend their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.
The squad has now assembled in camp as coach Justine Madugu continues to fine-tune the team ahead of the tournament.
Nigeria will begin its Group C campaign against Malawi in Rabat, with Zambia and Egypt completing the group.
The reported incident has added an unexpected concern to the team’s preparations as the reigning champions focus on their bid to retain the continental crown.
