Ukrainian boxing heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk declared Jesus Christ as his lord following his split-decision victory over British heavyweight Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia.
Usyk attributed his success in the match to divine assistance, particularly praising his faith after a decisive ninth-round performance that nearly ended the bout.
The judges scored the fight 115-112 and 114-113 in Usyk’s favor, with one judge scoring it 114-113 for Fury. “I thank God for the help he gave me today because he did give me a lot today. My lord is Jesus Christ,” Usyk stated ringside after the match.
