Adeleke Family Fires Back as Adedeji Adeleke Slams Kemi Olunloyo, Threatens Legal Action
A fresh controversy has erupted in Nigeria’s celebrity and social media space after billionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats superstar Davido, publicly lashed out at controversial social media commentator Kemi Olunloyo, describing her as “crazy” and accusing her of impersonating a minor, allegations he says will now be tested in court.
The dispute, which has quickly gained traction online, follows a series of posts and commentaries attributed to Olunloyo that the Adeleke family considers defamatory and harmful.
In a strongly worded response circulating on social media, Adedeji Adeleke reportedly condemned Olunloyo’s claims, stating that her conduct had crossed the line from commentary into criminality.
According to Adeleke, Olunloyo has a history of making “reckless and false” statements about his family, particularly his son Davido, whose global music success has often placed him and his relatives under intense public scrutiny.
The billionaire patriarch suggested that the latest incident was especially troubling, alleging that Olunloyo impersonated a minor online in the course of her activities.
“This is no longer a matter of gossip or free speech,” Adeleke was quoted as saying in messages shared by supporters of the family. “It is dangerous, irresponsible and legally actionable.” He added that the family had decided to pursue legal remedies to protect their name and deter what he described as repeated harassment.
While details of the alleged impersonation have not been formally laid out in a court filing as of the time of reporting, legal experts note that impersonating a minor, if proven, could carry serious consequences under Nigerian law and international cybercrime statutes. Adeleke’s comments suggest that his legal team is already reviewing evidence and preparing possible charges.
Kemi Olunloyo, a former journalist and self-styled investigative commentator, is no stranger to controversy. Over the years, she has built a large online following by sharing sensational claims about public figures, often blurring the line between investigation and provocation. Her critics accuse her of spreading unverified information, while her supporters argue that she is a fearless voice willing to challenge the powerful.
As expected, Olunloyo did not remain silent. In response to the backlash, she posted a series of messages defending herself, dismissing Adeleke’s remarks as intimidation and insisting that she has committed no crime. She maintained that her online activities fall within the bounds of free expression and vowed to “face anyone in court” if necessary.
The unfolding saga has sparked heated debate across Nigerian social media, with hashtags related to Davido, the Adeleke family and Kemi Olunloyo trending intermittently.
Some users applauded Adedeji Adeleke for taking a firm stand, arguing that influential families should not be subjected to unchecked online attacks. Others warned that legal action against outspoken commentators could have a chilling effect on free speech.
For Davido, who has largely stayed silent amid the controversy, the episode underscores the double-edged nature of fame. While the singer continues to enjoy international acclaim and a devoted fan base, those close to him remain frequent targets of public commentary and online speculation.
As of now, no official court documents have been made public, but Adedeji Adeleke’s threat of legal action appears serious. If the matter proceeds to court, it could set a significant precedent on the limits of online commentary, impersonation and accountability in Nigeria’s fast-evolving digital space.
For many observers, the coming weeks will reveal whether this high-profile clash ends in a courtroom showdown or fizzles out as yet another viral social media storm. Either way, it has once again highlighted the growing tension between celebrity culture, online influence and the law.
