The Super Falcons of Nigeria have advanced to the final of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) following a dramatic 2-1 win over South Africa in a fiercely contested semifinal in Morocco.
South Africa’s Banyana Banyana pushed the Nigerian side to the limit in a match marked by intensity and balance. With both teams level and extra time approaching, Nigerian defender Mitchel Alozie struck a decisive long ball into the South African penalty area. The ball bypassed everyone — including South Africa’s goalkeeper — and rolled into the net, delivering a stunning finish.
The late goal stunned the South African team, who had matched Nigeria for most of the game. Despite their efforts to equalise, the Super Falcons held firm to secure the win and book their place in the final as they chase another WAFCON title.
