Behind Closed Doors: Nigerian Celebrity Relationships That Crumbled in 2025
Away from movie premieres, concert stages and carefully curated social media posts, 2025 exposed a more fragile side of Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Behind the fame, several high-profile relationships quietly, and sometimes loudly, reached breaking point.
From marriages tested by public scrutiny to unions undone by personal struggles, the year reminded fans that celebrity status offers no immunity from real-life challenges.
Below are some of the most talked-about celebrity separations of 2025.
Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko
The most controversial celebrity split of the year involved Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and Senator Ned Nwoko.
What began as private marital tension quickly spilled into the public space, marked by serious allegations from both sides. Regina accused her husband of domestic violence in a viral video, stating that she could no longer endure the alleged abuse.
The senator denied the claims, countering with accusations that Regina was dealing with substance abuse and required rehabilitation.
Regina further alleged attempts to isolate her from her family, claiming her phones were seized to restrict communication.
By December 2025, the dispute had escalated into a legal battle over custody of their two sons, Munir and Khalifa. Regina shared an emotional video call with the children, revealing that she had been separated from them since mid-November.
She described the experience as deeply painful, noting that no mother can truly find peace while cut off from her children.
Nwoko’s camp later stated that the restriction was based on a court directive, reportedly requiring Regina to undergo rehabilitation and assessment by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before access to the children could be restored.
2Baba Innocent Idibia and Annie Macaulay

In January 2025, music legend Innocent “2Baba” Idibia confirmed the end of his 13-year marriage to actress Annie Macaulay.
The announcement followed years of public tension and unresolved issues that had long played out in the media. According to 2Baba, the couple had been separated for some time before officially taking steps toward divorce.
While he maintained that his private life should remain private, the singer said he felt compelled to address the situation due to widespread speculation.
The revelation stirred mixed reactions online, with some fans holding on to hope for reconciliation and others believing the marriage had run its course.
Sabinus and Ciana Chapman

Popular skit maker and comedian Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, known as Sabinus, confirmed in early December 2025 that his marriage to Ciana Chapman had ended.
Addressing months of speculation during a TikTok live session, Sabinus stated that the separation happened peacefully. He dismissed allegations of domestic violence and infidelity, stressing that there was no hostility between both parties.
According to the comedian, they continue to co-parent their daughter without conflict, adding that the child is safe and well. His confirmation finally put an end to the rumours that had trailed the marriage for much of the year.
Frank Edoho and Sandra Onyenucheya

In June 2025, veteran broadcaster and television host Frank Edoho disclosed that his second marriage to Sandra Onyenucheya had come to an end.
Speaking on the Tea With Tay podcast, the former Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host reflected on his personal life, admitting that marriage had not worked out for him despite his best efforts.
Married since 2014, Edoho explained that while love existed, the deeper connection required to sustain the union was missing.
He emphasised that falling out of love does not always require blame and encouraged couples to maintain individuality within marriage.
Today, he says his focus is on personal fulfilment and emotional balance rather than defining happiness through relationships.
Destalker

Award-winning comedian Oghenekowhoyan Onaibe Desmond, popularly known as Destalker, confirmed the end of his marriage in July 2025.
During an interview with content creator Timi Agbaje, Destalker revealed that the marriage lasted three years and moved quickly, with only six months of dating before marriage.
He cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and admitted he was not entirely faithful during the marriage, though he maintained that his former wife never caught him cheating.
Despite the divorce, Destalker said he is now at peace, stressing that marriage is not a measure of a happy home. He also disclosed that the union produced no children and that he is currently focused on personal growth and his career.
Nkechi Blessing Sunday and Xxssive

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday confirmed the end of her relationship with social media personality Eseoghene Obire, known as Xxssive, in May 2025.
She announced the breakup on Instagram, describing herself as “single and unavailable,” and later clarified that the relationship had ended months earlier.
Unlike some of her previous public breakups, Nkechi described this one as drama-free, noting that there was no bad blood and that both parties remained cordial.
While celebrity relationships often play out under intense public scrutiny, the separations of 2025 revealed the emotional weight behind the headlines.
Beyond fame and fortune, these stories reflected the same struggles faced by many; love, pressure, growth and, sometimes, letting go.
