Billionaire Leaves Fortune to Neymar Without Ever Meeting Him
A Brazilian billionaire has stunned many by leaving his entire $1 billion fortune to football star Neymar, even though the two never met.
The man, who lived in Rio Grande do Sul and had no children, formalized his will in June 2025. In it, he declared Neymar as the sole heir to his wealth, which includes luxury properties, major business investments, and company shares.
Explaining his unusual choice, the late businessman said he admired Neymar’s personality, his humility, and the bond he shares with his father — something that reminded him of his own late father. “I like Neymar, I see myself in him,” he reportedly wrote.
The will is now being reviewed by Brazilian courts before the assets can officially be transferred. Legal experts say the process could take months, especially if disputes arise. Taxes on the massive inheritance are also expected to be significant.
Neymar, who already ranks among the world’s wealthiest athletes, has not commented publicly on the inheritance. The star currently plays for Saudi side Al-Hilal and is preparing to represent Brazil at the 2026 World Cup.
Fans on social media have reacted with surprise, with many calling the inheritance “a once-in-a-lifetime gesture of admiration.”
